The Situation of Children

Many children are not able to come to education due to the poor situation as well as due to the lack of motivation. The situation of some of the girl children is very precarious due to low level of education as well as the practice of child marriage. Many children are seen working in hotels, restaurants, shops and garages. Many of the rural children find themselves as grazers of cows, buffalos, goats and sheep even at an early age. Some of the children have been taken for jobs under contract for the coming year money being taken by their own fathers. All these problems point towards one big problem called “the Broken families”.

Although the government has started many new projects under its wings for the welfare of the children in rural areas, the implementation part of them is very poor. Because of this, many of the children are not able to get benefits from these projects. As a result there are still a large number of school drop outs in all the 5 Taluks of Bidar, especially in the rural sectors.

We the Salesians of Don Bosco, commit ourselves to the integral and inclusive development of the youth, especially the poor and the marginalized, and the other disadvantaged sections of society, in collaboration with all those who strive for the realization of the a new society based on the Gospel values of live, peace and justice, in the Don Bosco way.
